Better work today involved me actually emailing the researched companies, as well as learning how to work the websites and edit them –> http://www.funkyvenues.com & funkyweddingvenues.com <– check em. I added a bunch of new venues and everything, which kept me busy until closing! That’s what I have to get excited about! Pasta for dinner and now waiting until these crazy girls get out of the bathroom and leave so I can take a shower. Ugh. Tonight will be spent collecting my writing clips so I can send in my intern app for Boston Magazine tomorrow. And I’m going to the Frieze Art Fair for work tomorrow. Nightttt.
Work Abroad
Second day at internship
London, Work AbroadInternship went the exactly the same as it did yesterday, but at least I was expecting it. Thursday I’m supposedly going to an art fair with some coworkers, but I’m not holding my breath. Oh well, I guess this is what it feels like to be at the very bottom–I just thought I’d be doing some journalism work at all instead of the marketing crap.
I rushed home at 6 to get in my comfy bed and relax. Melissa came home with her friend Alison from home around 7 and the three of us went to Stanhope Arms for some food (BBQ chicken wings and nacho chips with water) and lots of good chatting and catching up. I justify the money-spending with needing to let go of the stress of the past two days. Afterwards, I bought a chocolate croissant at Tesco before heading home to deal with the noise of our room. Finally got to have a decent conversation with Mark too, which always makes me feel happy and loved and special and worth something ❤ He is so good to me. Anyways, am listening to more Leisure Society (LOVE them. For multiple reasons) and am going to take a much-needed hot shower before going to bed early. I needed a lot of things today! My bed, good eats, chocolate, Mark, Leisure Society, shower = ingredients for sure survival of bad days.
I also feel like I need to have a picture here just to balance out my intense narrative. Hmm.

There’s a fat cat for you, seen in Wath on the way to Christine’s house. Sleepy and ADORABLEEEE.
First day at internship
Work Abroadwas, to put it mildly, not the best of days. It probably wouldn’t have been as bad a feeling if I didn’t just spend the last week/end in heaven. But I spent the entire 10am-6pm day in front of a computer looking up sites that would put my company’s link on them for free. And tomorrow, I will talk to my supervisor about my research, and then learn how to ‘put an email together.’ I felt miserable all day because I was put in front of a computer and not introduced to anybody, and therefore was ignored until closing. I really felt like 12 years old.
And to top it off, my roommates have two girls staying in our room all week which they didn’t tell me about. Six girls, one shower, first week of working, and no patience left. Nine are in the room currently, and all I want to do is curl up and fall asleep early and not be judged by what I’m wearing and how low my voice is and how I’m being ignored by all of them.

laundry day
Work AbroadMonumental achievement today: did my first load of laundry since arrival. Total cost: £13.30. Equivalent to $21.30. Exchange rates are DUMB. I’m combining whites and darks next time I don’t even care.
Apart from that morning adventure, I have sat in my room eating cookies and pretzels, reading My Trade by Andrew Marr, and trying and failing to lay off the internet. The only reason I’ve laid around today is because I am TRYING to get research done on my term paper (due Thursday) but really, who ever heard of me getting anything done earlier than the night before? I do not understand why I even kid myself.
Tomorrow: class 9-1 and more staying in.
Journalism class involved watching a media piece on coverage of the royal family, which was pretty interesting. I am really THE WORST blogger ever because I won’t tell you about any of the stuff I learned about anything, but it would take too long! Read at the library for a bit, worked on my JO358 test (which involves googling everything, and really ridiculous) I came home, took a long nap, made a HUGE pot of penne pasta, ate it! then went back to the room to read a bit. Probably going to bed early because I am a loser!
Journalismmm
Work AbroadMy journalism class today went by faster than usual, because we watched a movie on why people and the media are obsession with celebrities. Kind of interesting, anyway. Tomorrow we will be discussing the obsession with royalty. And taking a test yikes. I didn’t do much but read in the library and get some bread after class, and am now home thinking about dinner. I’m going to gain about 50lbs on this trip I swear. MLIA omg. Tonight will probably be a pub night. I think Chelsea’s playing tonight, which could get interesting.
But I don’t even care about these boring days. I cannot imagine a life out of this country.
